No neighborhood in Philadelphia has as complex and contradictory a history as Society Hill. Once it was home to Philadelphia's aristocracy, and today it features dozens of million dollar houses. Ah, but so much happened in the 150 years in between!

Join us as we move beyond the Early Republic charm of Society Hill and into the Antebellum lives of two women; a high-society white woman, and a free black woman, both born and raised on the same streets yet experiencing the same place very differently. We will visit places of importance to each woman and ponder how each of their societies served them individually.

You’ll never look at Society Hill the same way again!
