Who was Dirty Frank? How did McGillin’s make it through prohibition? What makes the Locust Rendezvous so special?

Join Hidden City Contributor GroJLart for a mini-bar crawl full of historical information and anecdotes about five bars in the Center City core.

These five bars will give you a different kind of insight into Philadelphia history and make you look at the buildings that house them in a different way. If you’ve been on one of GroJLart’s tours before (Forgotten North Broad, Slaughterhouses to Skateparks, Forgotten Chestnut Street), you know that he’ll also want to tell you about many of the buildings in between each historical drinking destination.

This tour begins at Fergie’s Pub at 1214 Sansom Street and takes a short route in the streets surrounding the Avenue of the Arts. At each location, GroJLart will speak on the history of each bar and/or bar-housing building while you enjoy a drink (drinks not included).

Participating establishments include Fergie’s, McGillin’s Olde Ale House, Locust Rendezvous, McGlinchey’s, and Dirty Frank’s.
