How does Hidden City find all those stories about former swimming pools hiding beneath the El, movie theaters in disguise as grocery stores and boarded up industrial buildings that conceal 19th century companies that are still in there making things? Join Hidden City’s Pete Woodall on a 5 to 8 mile (route still under construction!) bike tour that will help you read the language of the city's streetscape, and spot clues to a building's past life lurking beneath decades of stucco, aluminum and neglect. We'll delve into the stories of how these buildings came to be, the many businesses that occupied them, and the way they change over time. You'll never look at Philly the same way again!
Pete Woodall is co-founder of the Hidden City Daily and director of Hidden City’s tour program.
