Now's the time! Sleepy 'ol Chestnut Street east of Broad is on the upswing again after decades of decline. The tattered remnants of past eras are getting torn down or rebuilt. Things are changing fast, but as you'll see from this tour, that's always been the case.
Join GroJLart for an exploration of the past, present, and future of one of Philadelphia's most dynamic and important corridors. The tour begins at 9th and Chestnut and runs all the way to Broad Street. This may sound like an awfully short tour, but trust us--those blocks are packed with fascinating history, architectural and otherwise, and GroJLart will tell you the story each building, parking lot and parking garage along the way (with a couple of short detours).
In case you've never heard of Philly's most famous man of mystery, GroJLart is the author of
The Shadow Knows column
in the
Hidden City Daily
, whose foul-mouthed
Philaphilia blog
does something we didn't think was possible--it makes architecture...hilarious!
